19th & 20th Century
In the beginning of 19th century the Most Popular Newspaper in UK was Morning Post and was selling 4000 copies per day, as invention & development in printing machinery rapidly grew, the printing cost reduced thus the prices of newspapers were also dropped and came in the reach of middle and poor class.
Then around 1828 Moring herald and The Times became the most Most Popular Newspaper in UK.
Sunday Newspapers were more popular Newspaper and claimed to have 100000 copies circulation. Later in 1870, daily mail touched the 150000 copies per day mark and in year 1890 the Daily Telegraph surpassed the 300000 copies per day mark and became Most Popular Newspaper in UK.
Then in twentieth century half penny newspapers introduced in Britain and they changed the British press completely. The first half penny national newspaper was Daily mail which achieved the target of 1 Million circulation in 1911. Circulation of Newspapers in Britain continued to increase and reached its height in 1950’s when News and the world reached at the 8 million copies milestone.
Continuous downfall after 1950
