How to Copy Files from a Locked Computer :- Is there a way to copy all the files from a password protected or locked computer. There are several ways to do this.

Case one – You forgot the password of your own computer or Your Friend forgot the password of his/her pc and you want to copy all the important files to a USB before reinstallation of Windows in C drive.

Case two – Someone’s computer is password protected and you want to copy some file in his absence, without his permission. Well, in this case you want to steal some files from it.

So let’s assume you are not going to use this method to steal and tinker with someone’s computer files, because it is a crime and consequences can be very bad if that “someone” would know about this act.

• Blank CD,
• USB Drive,
•  Time & Courage (if you are stealing the files)

As you already know that Linux is Operating System just like your windows; which is open source and free. You can run some versions of Linux without installing them, they are called live Linux. You can burn this type of Linux on a Blank CD. Now this CD becomes Bootable Live Linux CD. Some Famous Live Linux are Ubuntu, Knobpix, Puppy Linux, Damnsmall Linux etc.

Download .ISO image of Ubuntu Live Linux from here (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop)

Burn the ISO Image on a Blank CD with the help of Nero or Active ISO Burner ,  a Free ISO CD Burning Tool. Don’t just burn ISO file to CD, You have to choose ‘Burn Image’ Option if you are using Nero.

Put The CD in locked Computer, which you want to copy files from.

Boot the computer with this CD, This may boot automatically, or choose boot from CD option in Bios Setup. (How to Copy Files from a Locked Computer)

After the booting Linux live OS will take you to a Desktop environment. Click on Manu Bar Then Select Places Menu – Windows Drive.

Now, Copy your desired files to Pen Drive.

If any access denied trouble comes, do this

Click on Applications – Accessories – Terminal and type this command “Sudo Nautilus”. Leave the password field blank and click Ok.

Now, You can access all files in Windows Drive and copy them to your usb drive. Don’t forget to remove your linux disk from the computer after this.
